Dosage as recommended by Dr. William Wong
Finding your Activation dose. When Vitalzym "kicks in" there will be no doubt in your mind that it is working! An activation dose is the amount of enzymes you need to begin to feel a benefit from the product. The recommended dosage given on the label is meant as a maintenance dose for those with out any complaints. Consumers with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Arthritis, Auto Immune Conditions, Fibrosis complaints and Inflammation symptoms need to find the dose at which they begin to feel better. They can then maintain that dose or after 3 months try to reduce the dose and see if the benefits are still felt. Finding the right dose for you: Start taking 3 capsules 3 times a day, in-between meals. If in 3 days no benefits are felt, increase the dose to 4 capsules 3 times a day, for 3 days. Continue increasing the number of tablets or capsules taken until a benefit is felt. Most will feel the Vitalzym kick in somewhere between 3 and 5, 3 times a day. There is no toxicity from enzymes, (no LD-50). Some customers who have suffered accidents have been placed on 10 Vitalzym tablets 3 times a day by their doctors for a few weeks until the bulk of their inflammation and it resultant pain are gone. Then they are brought down to a much lower maintenance dose to prevent the formation of scar tissue.

Hemophiliacs and those on prescription blood thinners should not use this or any other systemic enzyme as the Vitalzym ingredients help the drugs to work better and may overly thin the blood.

Vitalzym

Vitalzym is an extra-strength and highly fibrinolytic systemic enzyme.  Its unique blend includes even more serrapeptase and a highly active form of protease, an enzyme with significant anti-inflammatory benefits.

Vitalzym has become the leading systemic enzyme supplement available today. Its lack of toxicity makes Vitalzym a popular, all-natural alternative to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) thought by many to be at the root of serious health concerns.[1]

Besides its use as an anti-inflammatory, Vitalzym is recommended to help remove scar tissue and excess fibrin in the blood, modulate immune function, and fight viruses. The supplement is believed by many to help sufferers of arthritis, fibromyalgia, arteriosclerosis, autoimmune disorders, traumatic injuries, fibroids, and other conditions.

ENZYMES: AN OVERVIEW

As you may know, enzymes are the essential building blocks of life. They are key to the body’s ability to properly digest and benefit from the food we eat, and they provide the energy we use to rebuild muscles, cells, nerves, tissue, bone, and glands. As such, these enzymes spark the chemical reactions responsible for breathing, digestion, growth, reproduction, and most other body functions.

Dr. Max Wolf, M.D., who researched enzymes and hormones at Columbia University from the 1930's through the 1960's, determined that enzyme production diminishes in humans after age 27. While humans have historically supplemented their enzyme levels by consuming fresh, raw foods, modern preservation and preparation techniques often destroy the enzymes these foods contain. Combined, these conditions create an enzyme deficiency that causes our bodies and normal body functions to break down.

What does this mean? It means we must supplement our diets with systemic enzymes – those that offer system-wide benefits – just as we supplement the vitamins, minerals, and herbs that are essential for good health. In fact, many healthcare professionals also believe systemic enzymes to be essential elements for the treatment of acute pain, chronic conditions, and many diseases.

Definition of enzymes

Enzymes are proteinsthat act as catalysts, speeding the rate at which biochemical reactions proceed but not altering the direction or nature of the reactions. Enzymes are found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including humans. As biocatalysts, they either begin a reaction or cause a reaction to speed up. Without enzymes, life would not exist.

The enzymatic process

Enzymes work by virtue of their shape. An enzyme molecule can be compared, in shape at least, to many short strings of pearls (amino acids) strung together. This long string folds in on itself as certain sequences of amino acids are more attracted to each other than to other sequences, thus giving the enzymes a specific shape.

At one point on the surface of this string of pearls there exists something resembling a keyhole. This is called the "active site" on the enzyme. When matched with its specific coenzyme (a vitamin, mineral, or trace element), this "lock" has the exact inverse contour of the "key" contained in the molecule of the enzyme's "substrate" (the molecule that the enzyme wants to transform into a different molecule). When the substrate appears, it inserts the "key" into the "lock." The molecular structure of the substrate is transformed into a different molecular structure and both enzyme and the newly transformed molecule are free to part.

Systemic enzyme therapy

Systemic enzyme therapy utilizes enzyme supplementation to increase the enzymes throughout the body to assist in restoring the body to health.

Systemic enzymes vs. digestive enzymes

Digestive enzymes conduct their actions in the stomach to digest food, while systemic enzymes are enteric coated, or designed to survive the stomach’s acid.  This way they pass through the stomach into the intestines, where they are absorbed into the body.

Benefits of systemic enzyme supplementation

·          Speeds recovery from exercise and injury

·          Prevents the build up of excess fibrin and scar tissue

·          Accelerates tissue repair and significantly reduces swelling, bruising, and stiffness in patients following surgery

·          Reduces inflammation, speeds healing of bruises and other tissue injuries  (including fractures), and reduces overall recovery time

·          May digest dead tissue such as cysts and arterial plaque

·          Prevents swelling and fluid retention

·          Reduces pain, due to its ability to block the release of pain-inducing amines from inflamed tissues

How do enzymes help with inflammation?

Orally administered proteases, ingested between meals, have been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of inflammatory conditions.  There is strong evidence that orally supplemented proteolytic enzymes act to influence the levels of circulating cytokines known to be responsible for inflammatory and immune processes. It is believed that these supplemental enzymes act in at least two ways to control the activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines.  Supplemental proteases appear to act both by directly hydrolyzing certain pro-inflammatory cytokines and perhaps indirectly by activating cytokine modulators.

VITALZYM

Vitalzym is a unique natural enzyme blend that is particularly suited for applications where inflammation is a characteristic factor. It is designed to provide cardiovascular, respiratory, and immune support.

The enzymes in Vitalzym have proven beneficial in:

Vitalzym Ingredients

Vitalzym is a blend of enzymes that work synergistically to provide total system support.  It contains Serrapeptase, Proteinase, Bromelain and Papain.  It also contains Amylase and Lipase. In addition to enzymes, it is supplemented with the antioxidants Amla and Rutin.

Serrapeptase

Also known as Serratia peptidase; a proteolytic enzyme isolated from the non-pathogenic enterobacteria Serratia E15.

Studies show that serrapeptase induces fibrinolytic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edemic (preventing swelling and fluid retention) activity in a number of tissues. Its anti-inflammatory effects are widely believed superior to other proteolytic enzymes.

Another primary benefit of serrapeptase is the reduction of pain; particularly in the enzyme’s ability to block the release of pain-inducing amines from inflamed tissues.

Physicians in Europe and Asia use serrapeptase in treatment as an alternative to aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs.

Protease

A highly active, proteolytic enzyme that degrades bradykinin, a nonapeptide that increases vascular permeability (as in acute inflammation), dilates blood vessels, contracts non-vascular smooth muscle, and causes pain.

Bromelain

An enzyme found in pineapples that breaks down other proteins, such as collagen and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Papain

Aproteolytic enzyme obtained from unripe papaya.

Lipase

Lipase digests fat.  It is an enzyme secreted in the digestive tract that catalyzes the breakdown of fats in to individual fatty acids that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Amylase

Any of a group of proteins found in saliva and pancreatic juice and parts of plants. Amylase digests carbohydrates and helps convert starch to sugar.

Amla

Amla is the richest source of Vitamin C. It also contains tannic acid, glucose, protein, cellulose and calcium. Amla is considered to have restorative and preventive properties.

Rutin

One of the many existing flavonoids. Flavonoids support health by strengthening capillaries and other connective tissue, and some function as anti-inflammatory, antihistaminic, and antiviral agents.

Other Ingredients

Vitalzym also includes cellulose, maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

Dosage

Activation dose

An activation dose is the amount of enzymes a patient needs to feel a benefit from the product. The recommended dosage given on the label is meant as a maintenance dose for those without any complaints. Consumers with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis, autoimmune conditions, fibrosis complaints, and inflammation symptoms need to find the dose at which they begin to feel better. They can then maintain that dose, or after three months, try to reduce the dose to determine if the benefits are still felt.

Questions and Answers

How long before Vitalzym takes effect?

It may depend on the individual’s physiological makeup. Everyone is different. Testimonials from current users report positive effects ranging from 3 days to 2 weeks. Taking the right activation dosage is critical to the success of the product.

Are there any side effects with Vitalzym?

Vitalzym is well tolerated. Occasionally, a patient may be allergic to one of the enzyme ingredients, but the incidence is not common. With the exception of minor detoxification reactions experienced by some users, there is no documented evidence of any adverse side effects based on the use of Vitalzym. Patients should not take this product without the consent of their physician if they are currently taking prescription anticoagulants, commonly known as blood thinners.

Are there any compatibility issues with other nutraceuticals?

No. In fact, since vitamins are coenzymes and minerals are cofactors to enzymes, enzymes are needed in the body for them to be able to have their full effect. In addition, the vitamins and minerals assist the enzymes. Thus, systemic enzyme use enhances the efficacy of other supplements.

Are there any compatibility issues with any prescribed drugs?

Yes. Patients using anticoagulants, or blood thinners, should not use Vitalzym without the consent of their physician. The enzymes enhance the effects of the blood thinning medications, making them stronger.

Side effects are possible with any agent known to affect blood clotting. Therefore persons who suffer from clotting disorders or who are on antithrombic medications, such as warfarin, coumadin or aspirin therapy, may experience decreased clotting times when using Vitalzym. Therefore, such persons should consult a physician prior to taking doses of any systemic enzyme supplement. In addition, due to its effects on vascular permeability, the absorption and tissue distribution of antibiotics may be increased when administered concomitantly with Vitalzym. Persons on antibiotics should consult their physicians prior to taking Vitalzym.

Are the components of Vitalzym derived from non-GMO sources?

Yes, the enzymes in Vitalzym are derived from non-GMO sources.

Does climate affect Vitalzym?

Exposure to heat over 120º for an extended period of time can destroy the enzymes. Store your Vitalzym in a cool, dry place, with the lid of the bottle tightly closed. Properly stored products have a shelf life of more than 18 months.

[2]  The U.S. Office of Naval Research has begun using protein-eating (proteolytic) enzymes to fight viruses. Proteolytic enzymes are believed to lyse (eat away) the exterior protein coating of the virus. When a virus cannot complete an isoprin bond (using its protein coating) to replicate, it is simply rendered inert.
